International organ music festival Grande Orgue

In 2015, the International Festival of Organ Music Grande Orgue was held for the first time in the Arts Palace in Kondopoga, in the only hall in Russia with two independent organs. The festival has become an annual event. Now it is a good tradition and an authoritative platform for the development and popularization of organ music.

The festival is organized and directed by a married couple of organists - Denis Makhankov and Dina Ikhina. The festival supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Karelia, the Karelian State Philharmonic, cooperation with long-term partners and travel companies.

Grande Orgue translated from French as "the great organ" - the main organ keyboard in the traditional French organ construction. But it also reflects the personal sympathy of the artistic directors for the French organ music.

Every year the festival consists of several concerts with various programmes. The culmination is the Organ Night - a gala concert of all the participants, which lasts two hours without a break and is very popular and always takes place with a full-house.

Every year, music of different eras and styles sounds at the festival - musical premieres and new readings of classical works. The programmes contain rare ensemble combinations: organ duet, organ and grand piano, organ and melodica, organ and bagpipes, organ and metallophone, organ and ensemble of baroque instruments, organ and cymbalo, organ and dance and much more.

For five years, great musicians from Russia, Belarus, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Switzerland, Canada, Armenia, Germany, Sweden and Japan participated in Grande Orgue.
